The mystery of Li2O2 formation pathways in aprotic Li-O2 batteries

This perspective reviews the evolution of the past understanding of Li2O2, including the variable morphologies, generation pathways, and reaction interfaces. It is proposed that some Li2O2 particles are strongly dependent on the electrode surface as a result of the dynamic coupling of the solution pathway and the surface pathway, and a possible mechanism is emphasized based on previous experimental results and theories.
