Design of Thick Electrodes with Vertical Channels for Aqueous Batteries: Experimental and Numerical Analysis
This study systematically investigates the dissolution characteristics of copper electrodes during the charging process under alkaline conditions and reveals their dissolution mechanism at high voltages. Based on this, a battery charging protocol based on partial dissolution-deposition mechanism is proposed. On one hand, it achieves high utilization of active materials through early-stage self-activation; on the other hand, it effectively enhances the cycling stability of the battery (400 cycles with no significant decay). This work provides direction for the future research of low-cost, high-energy-density power batteries and contributes to accelerating the commercialization of zinc-based battery systems.
