Redox mediators optimize reaction pathways of rechargeable Zn-air batteries

This work reports a timely summary on the innovative application of redox mediation/mediators (RMs) in Zn-air batteries (ZABs) regarding sacrificing biomass molecules to replace sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and decoupling energy and power in redox flow batteries is presented, elucidating its fundamental principles, progress, and future developmental trajectories. This letter aims to promote the continuous and robust advancement of ZABs for next-generation energy storage devices.
