Rigorous assessment of electrochemical rechargeability of alkaline Zn-air batteries

In this work, the electrochemical rechargeability of alkaline aqueous Zn-air batteries is critically evaluated, firstly for the polarization curves of conventional scanning tests, achieving a relatively stable individual voltage test method to provide an effective complement to the more transient conventional scanning tests. Then a comprehensive investigation was performed for each component of the cell (Zn electrode, air electrode, electrolyte), including in situ monitoring of oxygen released during charging, utilization of the Zn electrode, and characterization of the electrolyte and electrode-electrolyte interface changes.
