The role of big data analytics in enabling green supply chain management: a literature review

Big data analytics (BDA) is gaining considerable attention from academics and practitioners as a critical enabler ofgreen supply chain management (GSCM). Research on this emerging field is increasing but generally underexplored. This study conducts a systematic literature review of 36 relevant papers published in the past 10 years. Our analysis maps four types of BDA techniques, namely, statistics, machine learning, data mining, and optimization in four GSCM areas, that is, internal environment management, green purchasing, customer green cooperation, and general GSCM. This study contributes to the literature on BDA-enabled GSCM by summarizing the types of BDA techniques applied in GSCM and clarifying specific GSCM areas enabled by BDA techniques. We discuss the implications of the literature review and provide directions for future research.
